Meet our certified Enkaustikos Instructors! These instructors have been trained and educated in proper encaustic techniques and procedures, as well as Enkaustikos products.

Erna de Vries
Erna has been an art educator for the past 35 years,  recently re-directing her attention on developing mixed media and encaustic painting techniques. Her subject matter explores the complexities of nature, diverse environments, and the passage of time. Working in multiple styles, the tree often emerges as an integral motif representing the cycles of life.

Charlie Ciali
Charlie Ciali received his B.F.A. Degree in Ceramic Arts from Daemen College in 1978, followed by graduate studies at Edinboro University, Edinboro Pennsylvania, where he studied under renowned ceramicists, Robert Milnes, George Ferguson, Steve Kemenyffy, and Donna Nicholas. Considering himself a mixed media artist, he has explored the possibilities of different mediums and how they work with each other. Today Charlie works in monotype prints, encaustic, painting, sculpture and mixed media.

Paricia Baldwin Seggebruch
Innovative developer of Encaustikits and Encausticamp Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch began painting more than eighteen years ago-always abstractly and evolving into encaustics from acrylic over eight years ago.  Her love for the medium translates into her teaching, and students’ worldwide benefit from a passionate, engaging workshop experience filled with all the knowledge Patricia has acquired and developed in her forage into this rich and diverse medium. Patricia’s books, Encaustic Workshop and Encaustic Mixed Media, are available on bookshelves everywhere.

Celia Buchanan
Celia is a mixed media artist and holds a B.A. in 2-D surface design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, Scotland, and an M.A. in arts management in education from the City University, London. Celia's work has been featured in galleries notably the Institute of Education, London, National Exhibition Center, U.K. and The London Design Center. The author of several books and magazine articles on surface design and fiber arts, Celia has been working in her field for over two decades. She now works and lives in SE FL, teaches throughout the USA and works as a materials consultant for art material manufacturers from Europe, Australia and the United States.

Pamela Smith-Hudson
Pamela is a UCLA graduate who studied art, design, art history, film and dance. Growing up in southern California, Pam's early influences derived from the Art Poetry Punk scene of Los Angeles in the Eighties. She has been lecturing and demonstrating the importance of fine art product knowledge for over 15 years. She lectures at art schools, art societies, and art stores. Pamela is a mixed media artist experienced in printmaking collage, assemblage as well as various water media painting techniques. She is also an artist consultant for many art material manufacturers.

 Kathryn Bevier
Kathryn Bevier works at Enkaustikos Wax Art Supplies where she serves as both manager and encaustic educator. Kathryn has traveled extensively as the Enkaustikos Wax Art Supply representative to provide learning opportunities in a variety of arenas, most notably at Rochester Institute of Technology, Savannah College of Art and Design, NAMTA, the International Encaustic Conferences, I.E.A. EncaustiCon, and College Art Association. Kathryn is the featured Artist for Enkaustikos videos and DVDs. Kathryn earned her BFA at Lyme Academy College of Fine where she was classically trained.

 Renee Nelson
Renee is an editor, a published novelist and poet, an educator, and a prolific multi-media visual artist with a focus and delight in all things tactile and textural. Her passion is encaustic, but she also works in watercolor, fused glass, and clay, in dabbles in knitting and beading. She has exhibited extensively in juried, solo and group shows, and her work is held in many private collections.
